Brooklyn, NY — January 21, 2025 — Amogy, a provider of mature, scalable, and efficient ammonia-to-power solutions, has been named to Cleantech Group’s 2025 Global Cleantech 100 list for the third consecutive year. This annual list, now in its 16th year, showcases the most promising private cleantech companies making significant contributions to sustainable innovation. This year’s report highlights the innovators advancing groundbreaking technologies and business models to tackle the ever-increasing climate and environmental crisis.
“2024 was a significant year for Amogy’s growth, anchored by our successful demonstration of the NH3 Kraken, the world’s first carbon-free, ammonia-powered maritime vessel,” said Seonghoon Woo, CEO at Amogy. “Thank you to Cleantech Group for this prestigious recognition, which highlights our achievements and our unwavering dedication to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. We look forward to the year ahead as we continue to drive our commercialization efforts, accelerating the global journey to net zero.”
Founded in 2020, Amogy has developed technology that utilizes ammonia as a carbon-free fuel, providing a clean energy solution for multiple industries. The company’s ammonia-powered system uses a chemical catalyst to “crack” ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen. The hydrogen is then funneled into a hydrogen-to-power system, either an integrated fuel cell or hydrogen engine, generating high-performance power with zero carbon emissions. The ammonia cracking process operates at a lower temperature and with higher efficiency than other methods.
Amogy’s ammonia-based power solution was purpose-built to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in hard-to-abate industries such as maritime, power generation, and heavy industry. By providing a carbon-free alternative to fossil fuels, Amogy is helping to accelerate the world’s transition to a more sustainable future.
“2025 will be remembered as a transformative year for cleantech. The bar has gone up for what kind of level of potential novelty, uniqueness, and cost improvements might be attractive," said Richard Youngman, CEO of Cleantech Group. "The Global Cleantech 100 highlights innovators who are building the foundation for a sustainable and economically viable future."
Amogy will be recognized for this achievement at the Cleantech Forum North America, taking place January 27-29 in San Diego, CA. This event offers participants the opportunity to connect with many of the innovators on the list. The Forum will showcase the latest trends, groundbreaking technologies, and foster collaboration within the cleantech community.
