Our story

Amogy is on a mission to unlock ammonia’s potential as a scalable source of clean, reliable power for industries facing rising demand and constrained energy infrastructure.
We were founded in 2020 by four MIT PhD alumni committed to realizing the energy potential of ammonia . Our patented ammonia cracking technology converts ammonia into electricity with zero carbon emissions at the point of use, enabling scalable power for demanding applications.
To date, our technology has been successfully deployed in a drone, tractor, and semi-truck. Most recently, we successfully retrofitted and demonstrated the world’s first carbon-free ammonia-powered tugboat, the NH3 Kraken, demonstrating its versatility across increasingly demanding real-world applications.
And now, we’re scaling that success.
In 2025, we completed the commissioning of ATHENA, a state-of-the-art ammonia testing and manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, purpose-built to support our next-generation R&D and accelerate commercialization.
The need for reliable, scalable, lower-carbon power is urgent and Amogy is building the technology, partnerships, and commercial pathways to help deliver it.
